First of all: Happy New Year everybody. I'm not going to bore you with things like: Ooooh this year is going to be different and shit. It's not. It's going to be the same like always.
Getting ready for cosplay? Animecon 2014 is coming closer and closer and our cosplays are going great so far. My sister and I worked out a great working pattern (?). She does most of the props and I do most of the costumes. Why I say most is because sometimes we need each others help nonetheless, but her strength lies in props and mine in costumes. It's going great so far, so why not keep this up? I do believe we can finish the cosplays on time this time. I think we are on 30% right now. We have the fabric and most of the stuff to make the costumes and props. We already put some things together and tried things out as some of the things we need to do now are new to us. It's fun though. Getting new experience by choosing outfits you never done before. Quite the challenge and lot of creative thinking.
Oh speaking of Animecon 2014. I can't wait this time. Normally I'm not much into Animecon because it's pretty expensive and without a job and money it's just....Yeah. This time Kamui and Yaya will be at Animecon together with some other great cosplayers. I can't wait untill I can meet them and maybe get a picture with them. I'm glad I'm not joining any cosplay contest as they will be judging them. I would be so nervous. I know other cosplayers are nervous or doing their best to get everything right. Especially for Yaya. People have seen Heroes of Cosplay and think she can be really strict, but I think it isn't as bad as Heroes of Cosplay shows us. I do hope everyone will have fun and listens to what the judges have to say (if they say anything at all) and learn from everything.
I can't wait to join the Cosplay Fashion Show at Abunai again. I do want to join a Cosplay Fashion Show at Animecon, but I never had the chance to do so because of my cosplay planning. I didn't finished it or I didn't sign up yet and then the list was already full. Those kind of things. Hopefully next year will be a year I will join a Fashion Show at Animecon. For now Abunai will be my next Cosplay Fashion show.

Busy and selling!
Busy, busy, busy. With my life and cosplay!
I still need a job and it's not working out great. I really need to go to something that can help me out
on that job thing. Photography is still a thing for me so I'm busy with that too. I really want to do more regular shoots. Not just Cosplay shoots. Recently a father of a friend of mine asked me if I could photograph his and his now wife wedding. I was excited, but nervous at the same time. I never had a chance to photograph a wedding. I did told them so, but they still wanted me for their wedding. I was happy and it was a great day! Loved it and they were so happy together! They were also veeeery happy with the photos and the wedding photo album I made for them on their request. I also gave them two A4 sized photos of their family and themselves in their wedding outfits in a frame.
Ah well, it was fun!
On to Cosplay! That's why I have this blog although I don't update it frequently. I'm sorry for that, but as I mentioned above, I'm really busy. For Animecon 2014 we are working on two cosplays. One for me and one for my sis. I can't tell you who we will be cosplaying though. One character has been cosplayed rarely. I've only seen 4 to 5 cosplays of that character on the internet. The other one has been cosplayed more often, but not that much in the Netherlands. That's why we want to keep it quiet so we can be a little unique with these cosplays. If someone else cosplays him or her, than that's fine. That would be just pure coincidental. We won't be mad of course. That would be stupid. Every one has the right to cosplay who or whatever he or she wants. It's just that with my Sir Aaron cosplay I said I could be the first Sir Aaron cosplayer. Suddenly a few days later I see someone saying: Yeah I'm going to cosplay Sir Aaron! :D.....I was like: Dude seriously? I said that and suddenly you want to cosplay him too? That was just....weird and not funny. If it was someone who has been cosplayed quite often...fine, but Sir Aaron was rarely cosplayed and definitely not in the Netherlands. Yeah that was ducked up. Ah well. You will all see it at Animecon 2014. The only thing I can say is that they are both from Zelda: Wind Waker. That's the only hint I will give you!
About the selling part of the title. I sold the anchor of May from Guilty Gear. That thing was impractical, big and heavy for me. I couldn't easily swing it around on stage without falling apart in two pieces. It's just a clumsy thing and I hated it and I didn't like it anyway and so on. So yeah, I sold it for 15 euros (I should've asked more, but I already had that deal) and I'm going to make another one which I can still pull apart for travel purposes and to swing it around and it has to be light enough so I can walk with that thing for at least half a day without my shoulder getting hurt.

Abunai 2013
As you may have noticed I didn't upload much on the progress of my May cosplay. It was really stressful and even on the convention itself it wasn't finished yet. We brought our sewing machine with us together with the hot glue gun and other tools we needed. On Friday morning on the convention I finally finished my cosplay. Anchor was already done at home and my dad brought it on Thursday evening. On Friday evening the Cosplay Fashion Show started and I entered the competition. It was fun, but also really stressful as the crew didn't had the right music of my act. Lucky enough I had my laptop with me with the correct music on it. They should be happy about it or I would have shouted at them and maybe even quit the show. Any way, I still had a rehearsal. During the rehearsal my breastplate fell of on one side. I pinned it to my costume with a brooch pin and that pin just broke of. Only thing I could do at that moment (as I had only 20 minutes left until the actual start of the show) was to do a quick fix with white duck-tape. I was so happy it stayed on my costume and didn't fell of during the actual show! Every contestant was awesome. They all had amazing cosplays. I loved it and I think I will join another Fashion Show again, but maybe with a cosplay I already made and still love or a cosplay that doesn't need that much time. That was just the Friday. It was a lot of fun in the end. I got out of my cosplay as it was warm and the anchor was pretty heavy! On Saturday we had lots of things to do as well. I had a couple of photoshoots with other cosplayers. I'm also a photographer so I do the shooting. I really liked it and the cosplayers were great and had funny ideas for photos. In the evening there were a couple of Cosplay Panels with Kelly and Sam from the UK. It was really interesting and a lot of fun. Learned some new things about cosplay, make-up and acts. We wanted to go to the disco as well, but turned out some of our friends didn't want to go and that made things less fun. Next year we are going to try it again! On Sunday was a more relaxing day. I had one last photoshoot with some friends. After that I got back to my sis as she did the Yakitate! Abunai workshop together with Robin. She and Robin teach the visitors how to bake a Melon Pan (Melon bread). After that I got to the Abunai! Feedback Panel as they still can use some positive feedback on how to do things differently or improve other things. It was, again, interesting. Around 15:00 we decided to go the dealerroom as my sis bought a lasso for her Applejack cosplay. We still had to pick that up, so we did and we brought it to our room. After that we went to the Ending Ceremony. That's the last show that happens on the mainstage. After that Abunai! ends. That's it. Done. It was a great weekend again. We stayed there from Thursday until Monday instead of the usual three days. We did that last year as well and it was so....relaxing and fun to be there one day before and one day after. You see a convention when there are no people and everything still has to be set up and such. It's so weird but fun at the same time :) Well, next year a new Abunai. We already planned out new cosplays. For my sis again a secret one and for me it will be Index from To Aru Majutsu no Index, but first MGC Experience, Nishicon, Tsunacon, Animecon and Elf Fantasy Fair.

Update: May - Guilty Gear + andere cosplay!
Een update van mijn cosplay: May uit Guilty Gear. Ik ben er nog steeds mee bezig. Het gaat alleen niet zo snel helaas. Dit omdat er andere dingen tussen door komen en daarbij: We zijn bezig aan een andere cosplay voor mijn zusje! Zij wilde al een lange tijd iemand heel graag cosplayen en nu kunnen we er eindelijk aan werken. We gaan nog niet vertellen wie want dat wilde ze nog graag even geheim houden ;) Toch wil ik jullie een sneak peek geven van die cosplay van wat we tot nu toe hebben:
Dit is wat we tot nu toe hebben voor die cosplay. De blauwe kledingstuk lijkt op een rokje, maar het is een korte broek! Haha! Verder hou ik mijn mond hier over. Misschien dat sommige van jullie het al weten, maar dat betwijfel ik.
Verder naar May! Ik ben al redelijk ver, maar het zwarte band geeft mij veel problemen. Zeker als ik toch nog een aanpassing moet maken aan de cosplay. Ik had de flap aan de voorkant (die lange flap) eigenlijk al af. Laatst had ik die flap nog even voor mij gehouden en merkte toch op dat die toch wel te breed was. We hebben hem dus bijgeknipt maar hierdoor moest 1 kant met zwarte band weer opnieuw gedaan worden. We hoopten dat we alleen dat stuk band hoefden te vervangen, maar het lukt niet helemaal zoals ik wil. We moeten dus nog even kijken hoe we dit gaan oplossen.

Een start - May - Guilty Gear
Dus! Na veel plannen en dan weer doorstrepen en opnieuw plannen hoe ik de cosplay in elkaar ga zetten EN hoe het makkelijk en comfortabel te dragen is, ben ik dan eindelijk begonnen!
Ik heb eerst even de onderdelen voor haar oranje kleding snel geschetst in Photoshop om alles op een rijtje te hebben van wat ik nu precies moet maken. Zo op de tekening is het wel leuk, maar om alles even los van elkaar te zien is het toch even makkelijker.
Aan de achterkant zou alles vast moeten zitten, maar aan de rok gedeelte aan de voorkant niet. Om dit toch voor elkaar te krijgen ga ik alleen aan de bovenkant van het rok gedeelte dit vastzetten met een stukje zwarte elastiek of met drukknopen. Ik denk wel dat het elastiek wordt, want Skai scheurt nogal snel als je er knoopjes en dergelijke in wilt zetten. Dat is wel jammer. Met elastiek heb ik dit minder en misschien kan ik het dan nog steeds aan als ik wat kilotjes kwijt ben (of juist weer aan kom, maar laten we hopen van niet!) Ik vond het wel heel moeilijk om te beginnen, want Skai is niet één van de goedkoopste stoffen en ik heb niet veel geld. Als ik dus fouten maken, zit ik een beetje in de problemen.Na wat aanmoediging van een vriend van mij en de deadline van Animecon, ben ik toch maar begonnen op hoop van zegen!

Dus dat wordt toch weer ouders lief aan kijken of zij mij kunnen financiëren met de stof. Ik kan denk ik nog wel de lap stof aan de voorkant eruit halen en anders op zijn minst de achterkant eruit halen. Ik moet nog Skai hebben voor haar hoed en de schoenen, dus ik moet zowiezo bij kopen. Argh, vervelend he! Zoveel plannen en dan toch te weinig, hihi.
Het patroon is hetzelfde patroon wat ik voor Fi heb gebruikt. Het voordeel is dat ik het niet helemaal uit mijn hoofd hoef te doen en dat ik hier en daar alleen wat aan moet passen en in dit geval zijn het hele kleine aanpassingen. Voor de zwarte randen die je in het plaatje ziet in mijn vorige post heb ik zwarte band gekocht. Nu al 5 meter, maar ook voor dit grote kans dat ik bij moet kopen! Ik weet het bijna wel zeker!
Hopelijk lukt het met jullie cosplays wel goed. Bij mij tot nu toe nog wel!

Terug van weg geweest?
Ik heb inmiddels wel al een nieuw idee voor een cosplay. Dit keer wordt het May van Guilty Gear. Ik wil haar al een tijdje cosplayen, maar destijds had ik minder verstand van cosplay dan dat ik nu heb. Ik ga het dit keer echt proberen! Ik heb al het een en ander in huis gehaald, maar ik ben er nog niet aan begonnen. Des te beter, want dan kan ik weer voor jullie work in progress fotos maken en laten zien hoe ik het anker ga maken e.d.
Verder heb ik nog een Fi (Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword) voor mijzelf en de Fairy Queen (Legend of Zelda: Windwaker) voor mijn zusje klaar staan, maar deze zullen pas later gemaakt worden aangezien ik nog niet goed weet hoe ik hun haar nou echt goed moet doen. We hebben wel een plan, maar of dat echt gaat werken? Dat betwijfel ik nog.
In dit hele jaar is Animecon, Abunai en Nishicon weer geweest. Het waren hele leuke weekenden. Ik heb op alle 3 de conventies weer veel gefotografeerd. Zeker op Abunai! Zoveel heb ik nog nooit gefotografeerd. Ik had elke dag wel 2 photoshoots + dan nog de Fashion Show e.d. Zoveeeeel! Ach, ik mag niet klagen want het was wel super leuk!
Naast de conventies doe ik ook photoshoots. Deze zijn echter wel tegen betaling aangezien ik mijn kost ook moet verdienen aangezien ik werkeloos ben op het moment. Als je meer informatie wilt erover, zet dit dan even in een comment onder mijn post en dan zal ik terug antwoorden.
Hopelijk kan ik het weer bijhouden en hopelijk kan ik jullie ook verder inspireren en helpen met cosplay ideeën. Ik zie jullie weer op conventies! Dankjewel!

Een nieuw jaar en een schone lei
Ja ja, het is alweer 2012. Dit word mijn 6de cosplayjaar.
De laatste 2 maanden heb ik weinig gepost. Dit omdat er in die tijd veel is gebeurd.
Een nieuw jaar en dus een schone lei. Vanaf vandaag gaan we er weer vol tegen aan.
